Policy Discussion: Investing Unclaimed Funds Where Needed Most - CCA Members Only

There is approximately $500 million of unclaimed funds in lapsed financial accounts in Australia. As part of our 2014 budget submission, CCA has called for the investment of these funds to help build capacity in the not-for-profit sector.

CCA invites members to join CEO David Crosbie, and corporate engagement expert Ian Cook in a roundtable discussion in Sydney on this topic. Ian has conducted extensive research on this matter, and we would value member's input as we progress this concept.

Executive summary

CCA supports the apparent policy intent of the draft legislation that is to ensure income tax exempt entities generally must be operated principally in Australia and for the broad benefit of the Australian community. Likewise, deductible gift recipients (DGRs) generally must be operated solely in Australia and for the broad benefit of the Australian community.

ACNC Taskforce Implementation Report Released

In her role as the Australian Government's nominee as Commissioner of the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC), Susan Pascoe AM this week released the ACNC Taskforce Implementation Report. The report outlines the implementation process for the establishment of the ACNC, and addresses in separate chapters the five key action areas that will underpin the ACNC's work, including:
